well i just pretty much finished up putting a new motor in my car and when i hooked up the battery all the power went off so after finding that it was the ground to the battery i grinded it down and put it on.

Now when i plug in the battery the sidemarkers come on with out the switch being on and the dash starts to smoke a little. did i hook something up wrong or are one of the wires bad?

Did you remove any of the wire harness or anything under dash? Sounds like a direct short under the dash. Remove the dash and look at the cabin harness. If smokin form dash then short is under there some where. good luck
