no, it's called mobil 1 synthetic
i have several friends that've taken their oil to blackstone labs to get tested after 5-7-10K miles using quality oil like mobil 1. Results came back positive.
Changing at 3K is wasteful. It's supposed to turn black, it's doing it's job...if oil came out as clear as it went in, I'd be worried.
If I were forced fed or this was a tracked car i'd have different oil change intervals.
