16" rims vs. 17" rims
hey all,
I did do a search first and found only some info like 17's will hit the wheel well on bumps, or that your tires will get fucked, ect. I just wanted to know what problems I would have if I got some rota Grids in 17" or should I just get 16"? I was also looking at some konig wheels, but I think they may be too heavy.
heres the 16" konigs I was looking at, tell me ifg you guys think they will be to heavy.

Thanks

Just go with 17"s it's not like you race everyday. And if you plan to go racing just swap back your stock 15's on.

he's right, but rotational mass and weight are directly related. weight = mass*gravity. and rotational mass is the mass that is not in the center of the wheel (basically the entire wheel). if most of the mass is at the center of the wheel, then a heavier wheel can actually be easier to rotate then a lighter wheel with most of the mass on the outside of the wheel. however, even though this is true, a lighter wheel will almost always be easier to turn than a heavier wheel. i prefer lightweight 15s, but if you like 17s, get 17s. it's your car and your wheels. choose what you like.

I have 94 LS, 2.5" drop...I bent up the metal in the wheel wells that would cut the tire up, I kind of took vice grips, bent the metal over, and hammered it flat. So now when my tires hit, its just plastic they touch...before I did that, they were getting chunks taken out of them every bump I'd hit. I have 17's and they are great. No problems. and you can race on 17's...and look nice. its not like you are trying to race on 22's or something. They arn't THAT big. I would call 17's a nice "in the middle" wheel. Have fun.

I think the 16's look like a better "fit" on the Integra's. Looking at the laptimes done on that test, the difference between the 16 and 17 inch wheel was minimal(.5 sec average), if nothing thing at all. In fact one driver actually went quickest around the course on a 16" tire.
If you're going for looks, and want to spend more money on tires, then go for the 17's. If you want performance almost identical to that of the 17, but would like to save keep some money in your pocket to take your girl out someplace nice, go with a 16.
I really don't see the point of buying aftermarket 15" wheels if your car comes with them from the factory, just upgrade the tires.

As far as looks, I think 17's or bigger look good on a 'teg w/ a body kit, and 16's look good on stock tegs. As far as weight, depends on what you're willing to sacrifice. Me, I'd rather have a lil bigger rim and take a lil more to turn 'em. Just my two cents

Re: (CrazyModGSR)
weight doesnt always relate directly to size depending on your wallet, The bigger you go the more $$ its gonna be, the lighter you go the more $$ its gonna be. If I could get any wheel I'd get some forged Volk 18's cause they look great and they are super light weight.
As for value great looks and light weight maybe check out the Racing Hart Forged 17" CP8-R coming in at 12.3 lbs
thats hard to beat on a 15" or 16" wheel

now THAT is a great wheel... I have the original CP-8s in black 16s with 40 series Dunlop tires. RacingHart... not fake *** RH Evolution genero's, but REAL RacingHarts are the way to go.

Re: (Doc_Honda)
what do you guys think about those konig rims that I had a link to?? I really like those, and I think in 16" they wont be oversized or heavy. I also found some good tires for em.

I dont like them but everyone has a different style
I wsa recently going to purchase some Formula Type c(SSr Knockoff) in 16" they are 15 lbs, and the 15" is like 12 lbs, they also make a 10.8 lbs 15 wheel as well I was tempted but just couldnt give up my Blades.
The type C's sale for $900 shipped with tires.

There are plenty of 10-11 lbs 15" wheels, slap some good tires on those and that to me is definetely worth it
I bet i end up buying a set of super light 15" wheels, its just so hard to find a 15" aftermarket wheel that looks as good as maybe a 16 " wheel.

Re: (IntEGNYC)
ohh yea sorry forgot to add, I am going to be boosting my car in spring and I am also looking at brembo/wilwood/stoptech breaking systems. I think I am either gonna go with the konigs I posted or a set of rota grids, both in 16's.
