Default New to CRX! Need Help.

I just recently purchased a 1991 crx si the car has a B16A engine in it. The transmission is the oem. I would like to do several upgrades to it. I don't really want to make it into a race car just a nice daily driver that looks nice. Such as nice rims, tires, bodykit, new interior and i mean litterally i want to rebuild the inside and make it look awesome *CUSTOM*. Can i have some advice on where to buy seats, body kits, what engine to install which transmission to install. I would like to help it get the best fuel milage i can get. any advice would be helpful thank you.

and if you want mpg, go back with the stock 85hp motor. I am "pretty sure" the crx si didn't come from the factory with a b16. The "drop 'em wear" logo is "custom don't come in a box." If you want custom, you need to consider fiberglass, tweed, fabric, etc. for your interior pieces and dash and any custom console you want to have built.

Thank you sir but I guess i needed to be a little more specific i want it to have some pep, just not loosing any mpg, wouldn't a transmission with longer gears which adds pep and more mpg? I noticed your from Texarkana Ar im from New Boston. I's there any chance we might know each other? The car already came with cold air intake, headders and exhaust and it still get's 40 mpg. I want a car like Jason Stotts had.

do you know what transmission you have? right now cable transmissions are diamonds in certain areas, so playing around with that isn't going to get you much.

if you want mpg go back to a d16 with an L3 and can call it a day or sell yours and get an automatic. Nothing stated in your desires is going to make your car a daily driver. Take it from some of the older people here that its not going to happen over night.

I have only lived in Texarkana for about 2 years, but I bet we know the same people. I'll send you a Private Message with my contact info so we can text. I'll be at work until 7pm, so my replies might take a little while.

Getting more pep and more fuel economy usually don't go hand and hand. Lighten the car up and you can get both though.

Please search.

There are a few options for both adding power and cleaning up the inside.

First and foremost, even more so than most motors the smaller displacement motors need to rev to make power of any kind, gears speed this up, if you add longer gears you are going to slow the car down a good deal.

I strongly advise against swapping to longer gears, run a gear calc and you'll see why.

If you already have the breathing mods done you'll have to seriously sit down and plan what you want next and how much you are willing to spend.

As for seats, they have some bolt in options and anything else can be custom fit if you don't mind making or hacking up rails.

Every engine has a sweet spot for where it is most efficient and gets the best MPG.
You can get great fuel economy with a short geared transmission if you use efficient driving behavior and keeping the engine running in the sweet spot.
Swapping to a long geared transmission takes the control out of your hands and helps prevent you from driving inefficiently. If you ever had the desire to get into a speedy jaunt, the long gears will hold you back, slap you in the face, and say YOU MAY NOT PASS. The short gears will all ow you to drive any way you want... with the exception that you will be shifting more often to stay in that sweet spot of mpg effiency.

Can't really help you with the 'where to buy' stuff until you figure out precisely what you want.
Also, this is a technical forum so for sale, want to buy, where to buy, etc (non technical) is found up at the top of the forum in the sticky posts.
Maybe check out the cosmetic forum as well.
There may be some cars to look at and get some ideas as well as where to buy.

About your alternator issue you mentioned in textmessage:

http://crx.honda-perf.org/forums/vie...hp?f=7&t=10401
-------------------------------------------------------
Jack up the car, to allow the driver's side suspension to droop. Place the car on jack stands. Remove the lower alternator bracket. Spin the alternator and it will drop out once the right angle s achieved. Replace.

I can do it in ~20 minutes. The first time took me 3 days. =(
