Welcome my $100.00 Del Sol to the H-T family!
Werk! Lets do this...
Messed up stud 1 and 2.

Couldnt do anything with em, without crazy work sooooo... whatever.
Lots of parts.

Things laid out sorta neat.

Ewwwwww...

This is the old ring. You can barely see it, but notice the gap. Again, these are rings with 257k.

New rings:

Pretty much no difference. However, the oil rings were no good at all.Completely clogged up and not functioning properly.
Head assembled!

Had to clean it up a lil more.

Teh hone.

HT!

I realized I had never purchased a drain plug before! Wow.

Went to put the cover on and realized I had to put it on BEFORE I put the cam on. Doh! Pulled the cam gear off so I could put it on :p

Cam is timed! I hope its all right :p

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNDDD DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD... Thats where I am now :p Still have to put the IM back on, exhaust and various other lil things.
Soooooooooooooooooo... Moar to come!

A lil update: jelly is almost put back together. My exhaust manifold was cracked. I wasn't gonna change it but a buddy gave me a good one so I decided what the heck.
I pull it off, but forgot my o2 socket. Stupid thing was I there so tight I couldn't remove it with a wrench either
Lame.
So on Sunday I'll go back out, armed with a o2 socket and get her goin. Everything else is back together, save for a couple of brackets that go under the car (connect oil pan to trans).
I've gotta bolt the dizzy down tight, nstall one nut on the intake mani and... That's it. I'll crank her up (hopefully) and if all is well, I'll break her in, change the oil and be set!
Pics when I can get em uploaded. I miss driving jelly. My turbo integra is fun, but jelly feels nice. :D

Na just make it run right now and in the future invest in an all motor. Glad your getting there. Im just gonna sell my sol. I havnt been able to get to mine and i need the cash
Update time!
So here's what I started out with, at the beginning of teh work day.

I had basically finished all the hard work, but had to get my exhaust back on. As you see, my manifold is cracked.

I was given another mani to use but I had forgot my o2 remover socket. Lame.
So I go buy another socket since I couldn't find my old one. Failed. Couldn't remove it for nothing. Ended up just rounding the o2. So I said screw it and stuck my old mani back on (I needed to remove my old o2 because the new manifold didn't have one).
Anyyyyyyyyyyway... After I get all that sorted out, I stick my old mani back on and put all the appropriate brackets in there places, etc etc. Double check all my hoses, make sure I have oil in it and finally, try and start her....
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnd it didn't work.
Sputtered and shut off. Didn't want to run.
I look under the hood and there's fuel all over the valve cover. I guess I didn't have something on my fuel rail seated properly? I dunno. I loosened it, reseated the injectors and tightened them down. Also, there is a weird T fitting (not OEM) thats on the valve cover. I just plugged it as I had no ide3a where it went to.
Ended up, it didn't go anywhere and it was put there by the previous owner.
I try cranking her again. Much better! But still ran sorta bad and wouldn't idle. Also, I had a CEL. I researched this and found out it was code 14: Idle air control valve. Maybe it went bad? I dunno. So I checked her out.

Somehow, the wires/connector pulled out of the plug. Now, since it all came apart ncieely, all I had to do was reinsert the wires into the plug. I had a 50/50 chance of doing it right....
And I did it right!
I had my wife follow me for a few miles, then I went back to the shop to check everything out: All is good! I took my parents dig, Dori for a ride (because she loves cars. She has a few fat rolls.

I go home and start cleaning her up...

Of course, the interior was all messy so I had to clean that up too.

I had to charge up the AC, since I have a lil leak somewhere. AC blows cold again :D
I even did some moar work and fixed my door handle... I'll do a DIY, exterior door handle replacement next.
This is how many miles jelly had on her when I rebuilt the engine
She was still running good, but needed it!

And, thats that! jellybean is back on the road! I've missed driving her. I've got use to driving my boosted GSR and, yeah, there's a sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight power difference there. Jelly feels sooooo weak compared to that (obviously) but shes running perfect! I do have an oil leak on the oil pan gasket. I'm just gonna replace it, as it needs it. I'll use that opportunity to change the oil and clean out the pan of any debris that might be in there from the rebuild.
So yeah, Jellys back!

DIY: Exterior door handle replacement.
Tools needed:
3/8 wratchet and 6+ inch extension.
10mm socket
phillips and flat head screw driver.
Exterior door handle.
Time needed: 20 mins
Step 1: Find your car, gather tools and get ready! Oh, this is important: ROLL YOUR WINDOW UP!

Step 2: There are a few screws holding the door panel on
- One in the interior door handle (use flathead to pry cover off).
- One under the handle thats built into the door (use a flathead to pry cover off).

- One near the top of the panel, closest to the windshield.

Step 3: You need to remove the interior handle. You'll have to slide the lil plastic retainer thingy away from the rod and wire. You can see I've already removed one in the picture. I just removed the main rod holder and when I pulled the panel off, I slid the handle through the opening, not removing it completely.

Step 4: Starting from the bottom, pop the door panel off. Be gentle, as you don't want to break the clips. Don't forget to unplug the plugs going into the window switch.
Step 5: Once the panel is off, you will need to peel back some of the plastic thats covering the door so you can get to the bolt for the handle. Its easy to spot: just look for the handle and you'll see it. 10mm socket here folks.
Step 6: there is a lil black plug you have to remove so you can get to the other 10mm bolt. Here is where you need the extension.

Step 7: Heres the tricky part. Reference teh pic.

You see the rod thats sticking straight up, on the lower portion of the picture? That has a nice lil retaining plastic thingy that you have to kinda pry apart, then use a screwdriver to pry the bar out of the clip. That prob doesn't make much sense, but thats as best as I can explain :p just work at it. Once thats out, just wiggle the handle out until it comes off the other rod.
ta daaa!!

Note the old handle on bottom, new(ish) on top. The spring that made the handle close when you pull on it broked
Lame.

Now, I might mention that unless you want your keys to mis-match, you need to remove the lock from the handle. I didnt get a pic, but its super easy, as you just pry up a rataining ring and slide the lock out. Super simple stuff.
Step 8: Reinstall everything that you removed! pay attention to the door clips as you don't want to break them when you reinstall.

o.0
I'm very pleased with how jelly is running. Everything seems perfect except the idle. its just not quiiite as smooth as I think it should be. But only the idle. Acceleration is smooth, cruising is smooth too. No bucks, pops, skips, etc.
Gas mileage seems to be wonderful (gauge has barely moved). I'll fill her up this week and see what the mileage is next week. I'll update on that
I'm guessing with how I drive, mid to upper 30's.As far as the body work, I was looking at her yesterday, sorta re-acquainting myself with what I had goin on. Basically, all thats left is that one panel. I think everything else is good enough. But now that I'm wanting to get rid of my Integra, I don't want to put Jelly down again for any extended length of time. So what I'll have to do is just remove parts, sand/prime, then put em back on.
I really want the whole body primed soon and I think I could do that in a weekend. I suppose I don't REALLY need to do too much with the paint under the weather stripping and whatnot, since it'll have the weatherstripping over it. But I want to do a good job too sooo...
We shall see which wins: Productivity or Laziness
go to the junkyard and grab yourself an o2 and get that over manifold on. chances are it will clear the idle up for you considering that huge crack in your manifold right now
once again.. man i love samba green del sols!!

Thats a good point. I'll have to check and see how much an o2 costs.
love it! That engine bay sure does look purdy all cleaned up.
I love the look of an clean, oil-leak-free, stock engine bay. Somethin to be said about having everything working as it should.

Check out my first page. it's all orginized and whatnot and I'm proud of it because it took quite a while to do. ENJOY IT OR YOU SHALL SUFFER.
Or not, whatevs
Just read all 28 pgs and Im impressed and motivated and finish my lil project. Btw great deal wish my ek hatch was that cheap then again it came with a b18c1 with a b16 tranny
I still have a ways to go with ole jelly, but she's gonna get done. Time is running out for me to paint her, as the temps are dropping here in fl. I'm gonna work on her same today and maybe this weekend.
Temperature drops in FL? ****, when I was in Daytona I was out ripping motors out of cars and bikes all the way through December and January. You want cold, come up to VA
I'm lookin for an ek hatch with a gsr swap to trade my Integra for XD

Weelll... a lil update.
My amp wasn't working in Jelly. I had no idea why.
Also, I have a nice CD player in my Integra (which will be leaving me soon) so I pulled it out and stuck it in Jelly.
While I was doing that, I troubleshot? (is that the correct term?) my amp problem and it was interesting to me.
- Amp was hooked up: no power.
- Check wire going to battery: connected.
- Checked in line fuse coming from battery: had power.
- Checked wire about 3 foot from the battery: had power.
- Checked wire at amp: no power.
Somehow, the wire broke or fried itself, or SOMETHING. I dunno. I can't say I've ever had this happen before. BUT, I replaced the wire and now have some boom boom back in Jelly :D
I also have a nice old school Pioneer with the dolphins swimming around and whatnots :p
I'll get you guys a pic
