Default The Official K24a2 swapped ep3 thread...

Its been a good year for me. I just bought a 2006 k24a2 for my ep3 and a k-pro.

This thread is going to walk you through a k24a2 swap. My plans first for the motor are

rsx type s oil pump and water pump swap. Other then that im plan on dropping it in N/a

first untill i can afford the turbo kit i want to put together. Im hoping to have it in the car

in a few months.

Cool, I had to find 2006 motor because it has bigger valves and better cams.

That's a great deal and that motor is extremely clean. Are you sticking with the stock intake manifold or an rbc or rrc?

Havent really made up my mind yet. I thinking of getting a RBC manifold. Which one do

you think is better? I picked up my Crv mount and my oil cooler joint today from honda

and I order the oil pump and oil cooler/ water pump stuff. Also bought a Rsx Type S oil

cooler off ebay.

It was listed on ebay for $1450. So i contacted the sell and told him i would buy it. It so

happen to be in the same state i was in so shipping was cheap.

I got all the parts for my oil pump and water pump/ oil cooler swap minus the oil pan.

Still need to get my Rsx vtc actuator to. should be installing here in a couple of weeks.

The oil cooler return line has two holes so the plug i got wont work. illl need to do a full

rsx conversion on it.

Its not mandatory at all. The oil pump on the Tsx is good up until 7600 rpms before its

not effient any more. The Rsx oil pump is effient to 8500 rpms. As for the water pump

from the rsx, I used that because you will need it to run the rsx oil cooler.

Also find out today you need the Rsx water pump housing

for the water pump to bolt on. The Rsx water pump will not bolt to a Tsx water pump housing.

As far as just the stuff need to swap from what i gather from the internet research I been doing

you need the crv mount bracket, k pro, change the sensors on the tsx to ep3 sensors,

karcepts throttle body adapter plate for ep3 or rsx throttle body to rbb, rbc, rrc intake manifold,

depending on what year motor you got and what intake manifold you are using you might have to get rid of the iacv.

swap you accessorys over to the tsx engine from you donor car. a/c, power steering, alternator , etc...

if you have any more questions this thread should help you out some. Im hoping to have this motor in the car in 6 weeks.

So ill know everything need to have it work soon im learning new things need to be done everytime i work on it so...

did some disassembling today...

Took off exhuast and intake manifolds.Removed timing cover, timing chan and tensioner.

Tried to install water pump and noticed that the water pump housings are different on

the Tsx. I will need a Rsx water pump housing. Remove old thread for oil filter. Installed

new thread and oil cooler. Remove oil pump chain and oil pump. Thats as far as i got

today. I will notching out the oil pump soon and will post pics how its done. As well as

tapping and closing the hole on the bottom of the block that needs to be closed up for

the oil pump. Questions & Comments please.

Personally I have to say get the k24 because it has more torque. Torque is good for

bigger body civics. It also launches you better out of the hole. It doesnt rev as high tho.
