just bought a 00 em1 and the check engine light was on he said it was the knock sensor but then the check engine light when on and the SRS light came on i think it might be the airbag in the steering wheel its ripped where the bag goes its not blown
does anyone know if its the air bag or what else might it be?

 

He probably messed around with it.
Or it was in an accident and he tried to replace it.

Best thing to do is ask the guy you bought it from.

 

No need to guess. Pull both CEL and SRS codes by jumping the service connector above the ECU. Click the CEL sticky at the top.

 

wasn't in an accident ill ask the guy so i bought it for 3,000 it has dents new brake rotors and it has less then 100,000 miles and i clean ctr lip in the back and the interior is clean except for the climate control thing which is kinda loose and the **** boot is missing
was this a good buy

so the air bag thing is ripped and i was thinking if it was in an accident and nope checked the car well and didn't notice any sign of damage to chassis didn't notice any welding spot im thinking if it might be the air bag so my dads mechanic is gonna take a look tell me whats up

 

will it pass smog in California with the SRS light on
