how to DIY get rid of the pos cardboard in thy trunk
i made a custom one for my hatch before, but i used a diff material.
it was free from lowes, you have to ask a salesman for it.
its thin, lightweight, and it held up a tranny over speed bumps and didnt crack
i could even sit on it when working in the hatch and it didnt bow (no spare tire either to hold it up)
its called a laminate sheet board, they are put in with their laminate sheets to keep them flat during shipping, lowes just throws them away when they open a new pack of laminate sheet.
if you ask one of the floor salesman for them, and offer about 5 bucks, they will usually give it to you
they are also good for making hatch covers, that are so hard to find, and when you do find them, people want over 100 bucks for it

I did the same thing, I still had the OE cardbaord in my trunk so i just traced that onto the laminate board.
it actually clipped into the stock position so it couldnt bounce around
farkiller decided to open his mouth...
What's the point? To each their own, that's why.
One guy likes trunk liner, another doesn't want it, no big deal. One guy wants a race build, another wants a nice daily car, whatever.
As I said, to each there own. It's different strokes for different folks.
Anyways, back on topic. Custom made trunk floor liners like this are always much nicer than the thin warped OEM crap. That was one of the first things I did to my Civic when I bought it years and years ago. I pulled the warped OEM piece out of the car and made a custom piece out of some material I had around the house. Then covered, cut it so it would fit in and wrapped it in some nice carpet.

The VX came stock with a plastic laminate trunk liner support board, not that crap cardboard. P/N 84521-SR3-A10.
actually i think it went from a DIY to a debate to ej1love getting an awesome avatar
i did not know that, are they discontinued by now? if not i will check on the price tomorrow and let you guys know.
Xplicit-do like ej1love and i were talking about and lose the sound deadening, it will look way cleaner.

If you do find one, here's what to look for. It's polka-dotted and made of a hard corrugated plastic. Stiff, solid and light. Since it was made special for the VX, it's got to be lighter than the cardboard one (but we are probably talking just by milligrams here, though).
