SEMA Update: We Get a Firsthand Look at Honda Civic Racers
We are here at SEMA 2021 and get up close and personal with a few of the hottest Honda Civic examples.
A couple of days ago we gave you the heads up on some of the exciting models that Honda would be showcasing at SEMA 2021. Well, the show has started, and we are here and able to get closer looks at a few of the hot Honda Civics that are on hand.
Seeing press release photos is one thing but getting right next to the Honda Civic in person gives you much more perspective. And we are here to pass that perspective on to you.
We were able to get close to the Team Liquid 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback, Team Honda Research West Civic Si Race Car and the HPD Civic Racecar.
The cars may be sitting still inside a convention hall. But looking at them has us scanning the exit and looking for the closest racetrack. In fact, Las Vegas Motor Speedway is just 15 miles north on I-15. Just saying. Since stealing the cars is not really an option the best, we can do is share some more photos and details about each.
HPD Civic Racecar
This car is built from a body-in-white for SRO TC Americas, amateur touring car series, club racing and dedicated track day use. You can clearly see in this picture the built-in HPD roll cage, and OMP Racing seat and 6-point harness.
Out back you can also get a glimpse of the Borla/HPD turbo-back dual-outlet exhaust and of course the rear spoiler. The car rolls on Pirelli 245/620-17 DHH racing slicks wrapped around Momo Etna 17 x 8 wheels. If you look closely, you can even see the Wilwood 6-piston Superlite race calipers over the 2-piece slotted floating rotors. We want to drive this car so badly.
Team Honda Research West Civic Si Race Car
Another racecar to tempt us. This car cranks out 220 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. It may not sound like much, but it only weighs 2,450 pounds dry. We get a great view of the Titan 7 Custom forged 17 x 9.5 wheels wrapped in 245/40-17 high-performance tires.
The exterior also shows us the APR Performance GT250 rear wing mounted on the Seibon Carbon trunk lid. There is also a Seibon Custom aero-vented carbon hood. The car looks fantastic and is obviously a serious performance machine. Did we mention the track is only 15 miles away?
Team Liquid 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback
OK, so any car with a roof box is not going to be a racer but this car looks great, nonetheless. HPD parts include a front underbody spoiler, tailgate spoiler and black HPD emblem.
Honda Genuine accessories include 18-inch black alloy wheels with black wheel lugs, and a roof carrier. Sitting on top of the roof carrier is the aforementioned Motion XT Alpine roof box by Thule. The car looks sharp and you don’t need a racetrack to appreciate it.
These are the Honda Civic cars that we have been able to catch up with so far. But the show is still in the early stages so as we get more, we will be sure to share them here.
