2022 Civic Si Race Car Makes Sneaky Halfway Debut In Racing Trim

2022 Honda Civic Si Racecar

Controversial and camouflaged four-door 2022 Civic Si race car blitzes its way around Thunderhill Raceway in preparation for its debut.

Honda’s decision to ax the coupe body style for the Civic is still leaving a sting in the side of Civic enthusiasts everywhere. That is plenty evident in the Youtube comments of any videos about the subject. However, the only thing we can do is live with it. After all, the hatchback is still out there. Furthermore, Sedans offer more practicality. We didn’t see many folks complaining about the FK8 Type R being a four-door, right? Mugen turned to the sedan for their 2008 Civic Si, too. Let’s keep our chins up and check out the 2022 Civic Si as best we can. A little optimism can’t hurt anyone!

The 2022 Civic Si made a cheeky 30-second pre-debut appearance in a recent video on Honda’s official Youtube Channel. Though it is wearing typical camouflage you might see on a mule car running around near a production facility, Honda clearly isn’t too worried about hiding it all that much, given that they’re the ones that posted the video.

Though the camo cover does obscure the body lines decently (that’s what they want), this does give us a good concept of the shape of the new 2022 Civic Si sedan. While we can’t expect the ride height to reflect the race car on road-going models necessarily, it is an excellent place to start. Additionally, we definitely don’t expect to see a big wing on production models.

Seeing the angry enthusiasts deal with that, though, might be kind of fun. We digress.

What’s the new Civic Si doing out there, anyway?

Full Debut Coming In December

They’re practicing! The video shows quick snippets of different wheel and tire combinations, crew members discussing things with the driver, and some great footage of the Si blazing around the rolling hills of Thunderhill Raceway.

According to the video description, the 2022 Civic Si will participate in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill 2021. This event takes place from December 3rd through December 5th, 2021. This means that we’ll have a full reveal of the 2022 Civic Si no later than then!

Unfortunately for us, this video has only left us wanting more. Where we wish we could be hearing the sound of whatever powerplant is under the hood, we get some uplifting and cheering music instead. Though leaving an unsatisfied desire to know more is likely precisely what Honda wants from this video, we’re finding ourselves a little antsy.

Though we will have to wait nearly two more months for the 25 Hours of Thunderhill event, we are already on the edge of our seats to know more about this new Civic Si. Whether you’re with it continuing the coupeless trend or not, you have to admit that debuting the car at a treacherous 25-hour race is a great way to get the party started.
