Salvaged, Incomplete 2018 Civic Type R Looks Like an Amazing Project Car
Other than missing its rolling stock and front seats, this Civic Type R looks to be in pretty nice condition.
While the latest generation of Honda’s Civic Type R is generally considered to be a bargain, not everyone can afford its high $30k price tag. Buying a wrecked example is obviously a much cheaper way to get behind the wheel of the ultimate Civic, but that move can also be quite risky and potentially more expensive. However, this salvaged and incomplete yet apparently not wrecked 2018 Civic Type R up for grabs at Copart looks like the perfect budget project, depending on what the reserve price is set at.
Strangely, the car has apparently been stripped of its wheels, tires, and front seats. It’s unclear if these items were stolen or perhaps removed by the previous owner, and maybe the latter happened ahead of a repossession. Either way, the car reportedly runs and drives just fine, has just 27k miles on the clock, and doesn’t appear to have been involved in any sort of accident, as the only damage listed pertains to the lack of those aforementioned parts.
The Type R certainly looks like a low-mile vehicle in the photos provided. Theoretically, one could purchase it, replace the missing seats and rolling stock, wash it, and have a pretty darn nice car for pennies on the dollar. It could also be the cheapest way to get behind the wheel of an FK8 Type R for the foreseeable future, aside from picking up a wrecked one at auction that requires a lot more money to make right again.
Thus, it will certainly be interesting to see what this particular example winds up selling for. There are still quite a few unknowns with a sale like this, including what the undercarriage looks like, if the engine or suspension has suffered any kind of damage, and what, exactly, the paint’s condition is under that thick layer of dust. But given the fact that this car is a Honda, it’s a safer roll of the dice than many other salvage lot finds, at least.
