S2000 With Stock F22C Long Block Makes Over 700 HP!

By -

We know that Honda engines take to turbos quite well, but we had no idea the F22C was over-built to this degree.

We recently stumbled across something quite amazing. This video from DardanTuned appears to show an AP2 S2000 strapped to some hub dynos and putting down some incredibly big numbers. But more impressive is the fact that 703.8 horsepower comes from a stock long block F22C engine.

As described in the video, this car’s engine features a stock block, stock head gasket, stock head, stock head studs, and stock pistons and rods. In all, we’d say that’s pretty impressive to handle the boost required to hit 700 horsepower.

After showing the results from the dyno, DardanTuned takes the car for a quick blast down the street. Emphasis on “quick.” A sprint from 60 miles per hour to 130 is complete in just 5.2 seconds. They estimate this car is capable of a mid-9 second quarter-mile. This would boldly put the car in a unique position. If it hits that number at the track, it would be the fastest stock engine S2000.

There are some other mods worthy of mentioning. The transmission is a T56 with an 8.8 rear end, and the fueling has upgrades to handle the extra air from the turbo. Injectors are the 1700cc variety and those are fed fuel from a Walbro 450 fuel pump. Sadly, the kind of turbo and its size are not listed.

Consider the F22C in this car has never been opened. And for any engine builder looking to make that much horsepower, you’d imagine at least some sort of internal reinforcements. Maybe this car is a test to see how far stock Honda internals can go. Impressive numbers if that’s the case. But we also don’t know what part would let go first.

While this is bracket racing, for now, this S2000 could very well be the world’s fastest stock block example. What we can’t wait to see is how this does on track. We already know that there are some drivetrain upgrades, but we don’t yet know if it has suspension upgrades. The horsepower numbers suggest that a 9-second run is possible, but as we know with drag racing, it takes far more than just power to properly get a car down the strip.
