Anyone Looking for 2001 Honda Prelude Parts?
A YouTuber’s daughter totaled his 2001 Honda Prelude, so he gives us a tour of the car he’s decided to part out.
We’ve got a sad video for Prelude fans today. You may know David Long as The Car Wizard on YouTube (or perhaps as Tyler Hoover’s go-to mechanic). Long, owner of the Omega Auto Clinic, is one of those jack-of-all-brands mechanics, as comfortable working on Japanese imports as he is American classics and Italian exotics. A couple of months ago (see below), he picked up a mint 2001 Honda Prelude, a car he’s always wanted to own.
But earlier this week his Prelude ownership experience came to an abrupt end before he even had a chance to register the vehicle (many DMWs nationwide are closed due to the pandemic). When Long and his wife went out to run an errand, Long’s daughter, who he describes as “very young” and “not a very good driver,” took the Prelude out for a joyride on some dirt roads, went sideways into a ditch, and clipped a telephone pole in midair.
Fortunately, and most importantly, Long’s daughter is okay. As angry as any father would be in this situation, daughters aren’t replaceable.
The Prelude, on the other hand, suffers from seven to eight thousand dollars of frame, cooling system, and body damage that would cost more than the car’s value to fix. Plus, Long says he’s “very particular and would never accept this vehicle again>” So, Long plans to part out the Prelude or sell it whole without a title because he doesn’t want this vehicle registered.
If you’re looking for a donor Prelude or lots of Prelude parts, it might be worth reaching out.
