Enthusiast lives out dream of building the ultimate CRX.

Many of us were privileged enough to have a first car in our high school years. Even though we had a set of wheels to bring us to school and work every single day, enthusiasts often dreamt of the day they’d get the one they would have if money were not an object. For some it was a super car on a poster that hung proudly in their bedroom – for this enthusiast, it was a Honda CRX.

The CRX is a uniquely designed car with a short wheel base, compact style, and details that can be borrowed from other markets to create the perfect version. It was also popular in the Motorsport realm due to its low weight and cross-compatibility with cars such as the Integra and Accord. As with most Honda’s, this “Lego”-like buildability meant the possibilities were endless.

The exterior of this example was dressed with carbon fiber accents, a set of Volk Racing TE37SL’s, and a glass top roof from the JDM market. It sits just right thanks to a tried and true Koni Yellow/Ground Control coil over system that is dialed in with all the fixings to make it track prepared.

The interior is garnished with more JDM goodies such as the gauge cluster and no-smoking ashtray, as a testament to the level of care that goes into this build. A MOMO steering wheel, OMP pedals, and Mugen shift knob all aid in improving driving feel.

The final garnish to this all is the K20A2 Acura RSX Type-S engine swap that is installed into the engine bay. This two-liter monster features aftermarket internals that allow it to spin freely up to 9000RPM with a small blip of the throttle. Everything is able to come to a halt due to the Spoon Sports calipers installed after the swap took place.

Just like many enthusiasts, the perfect version of the dream car of yesteryear is possible with an adult income. The question is: what would you build?
