2004 Honda NSX-T

This 8,898-mile facelift model might be one of the best examples of this definitive Japanese sports legend anywhere in the world.

Once upon a time, we told you guys that the first-generation NSX is one of the best car purchases you can make, period. Not only because these vehicles are literally the definition of a driver’s car, but because the NSX now also sells for insane prices. It is one of the few cars you can buy currently that is guaranteed to appreciate. That can’t be said about 99% of vehicles.

When trying to understand the NSX holistically, it’s hard to start with why the car is so revered within the enthusiast community. It has a lot of good qualities and very few downsides. Driving an NSX is like being transported to a different world. It doesn’t feel like a car from this time period. Rather, it transcends traditional driving standards and creates its own. It is without a doubt what we consider a unicorn.

This is why when we saw this jaw-dropping 2004 Acura NSX-T going up for auction on RM Sothebys, we had to stop and appreciate it. In the recent past, high-quality, low-mile NSXs have sold for well over $100,000. These cars are without a doubt exceptional examples and are deserving of a high price. However, we don’t think we have seen an NSX look quite this level of immaculate. There is not a single imperfection on the beautiful Silverstone Metallic paint. The engine bay looks it still could be still on the assembly line in Japan. Even the brake rotors and calipers look like they have been finished to perfection. The Onyx Black leather interior is spotless. You couldn’t find an issue with this NSX if you tried.

This particular example boasts a low 8,898 original miles. This means it’s possible the engine hasn’t even experienced full break-in miles yet. All this even though the car is 15 or so years old already. Being an NSX-T model, the car offers the removable Targa top. 2005 was the last production date for the NSX, so this 2004 car is most likely one of the last to be made. Also, since this is a 2004 model, it features the facelift styling. This means fixed headlights instead of the 90’s nostalgia pop-up headlights in addition to other minor changes. There is debate about whether the pre-facelift model is more attractive, but honestly, both are stunning.

This car might be one of the most well-kept NSXs anywhere and begs a high selling price at the Concours d’Elegance at Amelia Island 2020. This event has been happening in the sunny coast of Florida for over 20 years. It is known to offer some rare vehicles that usually sell over $1 million regularly. If you are interested in seeing this NSX, it will be offered on Friday, March 6. It has an estimated selling price of $120,000 to $150,000.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see it sell for even more. Whether or not this car will end up in a museum or in the hands of a worthy owner, we hope to see it’s condition maintained to a high standard. However, it would be wise to give it a couple more high-strung miles to the car through a beautiful back road. We think it would make the late Aryton Senna proud.
