CRX has a spotless body, basic upgrades such as exhaust, intake and wheels, and it is in great running order.

The Honda CRX is a popular classic in the sport compact community, but with these fun little hatchbacks being are in the area of 30 years old, so it can be tough to find them in nice shape. In many cases, clean CRXs have been modified in a way that doesn’t suit everyone’s needs or tastes, but Honda Tech forum member “Bestcrx89” has posted one of these old school hatches for sale in the Honda-Tech Marketplace that is in good shape and it isn’t far from stock.

This clean 1989 CRX has simple, easily-reversible modifications, it is very clean and it has been well maintained, making it a great car to buy and drive or tear down for a big build that doesn’t require a bunch of bodywork.

CRX Introduction from Oklahoma

When the OP first posted this 1989 Honda CRX DX for sale in the Honda-Tech Marketplace, he provided some information on the history of the car, including a short mod list and an extensive run-down of what preventative maintenance has been recently performed.

Owned by a mechanic and maintained in top condition. Perfect for a daily driver. Price reflects the amount of parts recently replaced but is negotiable. Doesnt need any work whatsoever. Tires are NittoNeo Gens and the fronts have only 300 miles on them. Wheels are gunmetal 17 inch Drag brand. Less then 20k miles on the new clutch, A/C compressor and condensor, distributor, plugs, wires, and radiator. Have all receipts. Less than 30k on water pump, timing belt, belt tensioner, tie rods, and all 4 struts.

Also has catback exhaust (not super loud), cold air intake, adjustable control arms front and rear, aftermarket ST brand 25mm swaybars front and rear, dimpled and slotted front brake rotors, and an 8 inch Bazooka sub with built in amp. Headliner is in poor condition and theres a light dent in front of the Right Rear tire from a parking lot hit but its not that noticeable. Uses about 1 quart of oil every 2500 miles. Selling because i no longer have room to park it at home, i have too many cars!

Great Daily or Project Car

If you are looking for a clean CRX to serve as a fun daily driver, this is it. The extensive preventative maintenance list suggests that this car is ready to be a reliable every day machine, while the short mod list will make this hatchback more fun to drive than a stock car. It surely handles a bit better than stock and while the intake and exhaust don’t add a whole lot of power, they should both add some extra sound to the drive.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a CRX to build, this car is a great basis. It appears to be very clean inside, outside and underneath, so it would be the ideal car to accept an elaborate suspension system, a built engine or both. It wouldn’t need any real body work or interior touch-ups, so after the mechanical upgrades, this CRX could be ready shine on the track while looking relatively stock.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
