Acura NSX Continues to Increase In Value

As reported by Hagerty, this perfectly preserved 2005 NSX sold for $322,500.

The exact value is $322,500 for this NSX-T, according to Hagerty. It makes the $90k base MSRP when it was brand new in 2005 an actual bargain.

But what happened in 19 years to make the value of these cars increase so much?

Ahead of the Curve

Acura’s flagship NSX was ahead of its time by bringing super car technology in a reliable package. The NSX was by all means a Honda.

It has a VTEC engine, an “approachable” cost, and is reliable. It also has a full aluminum body and a mid-engine configuration – all while being released in the early ’90s.

With that in consideration we also must think of the consumer. In this case, it is actually the enthusiast who likely grew up knowing what a Lamborghini Countach or Ferrari F40 was. A photo of it might also had hung over their beds as children.

These same people were of age when the Acura NSX was announced to the world. They just weren’t at the age to afford it, yet.

Fast forward 24 years later, it’s very likely those same enthusiasts are now well into the age range of buying a super car for their collection. Instead of looking for a Porsche, Ferrari, or Lamborghini, they are looking into their past. Things like the Acura NSX or Integra Type R are now looked at as “dream cars” of yester-year. If they can be purchased… it’s for a lot.

Added the Honda reliability and a huge aftermarket parts supply chain – these dream cars can be purchased, maintained, and driven hard as intended with little risk. So, we can understand why the price tripled since they were new.
