cannot shift while driving
So I'm driving to work today and I go to drop down to 4th from 5th and I can't really describe what happened except kind of a bang and I put it in 5th and clutch won't grab. Soi pulled over and checked my fluid and it was fine. Then I started car back up and put in first fin, launched fine but couldn't shift into 2nd. Then tried taking off in every gear and it would. Even reverse. Any ideas? Changed clutch about a year ago. One of the pieces of metal retaining a spring sheered off. Any ideas?
Correct. So I got it towed home and took it around the block rev matching to shift gears and on the last part of the street, my clutch pedal stayed to the floor and I had to pull it up with my foot. I then heard a rattle and smelled something along the lines of burning rubber. I'm just gonna open the clutch housing up. I figure its either the pressure plate coming loose or throw out bearing coming off. I'm leaning towards bolts on pp backed out
Hmm clutch pedal stuck to the floor I would definitely say you must be low on fluid or there's a leak somewhere and air got into the lines. With air in the system, you would definitely have your pedal stuck to the ground without springing back on its own due to the lack of pressure. Wouldn't hurt to flush your clutch fluid. It happened to me recently as well.

I appreciate the input but I don't believe that is the case. I've have had that happen to me before and I was low on fluid but I'm not leaking anywhere and the fluid hasn't gone down a mm. I think its something more serious. I'm ripping apart so I shall find out.Although I'm taking a lot of breaks due to the extremely hot weather or else I'd be done by now. I will report back once I know, for anyone who is interested.
if your pp bolts backed out you wouldve heard a lot more noise, and couldve locked the drivetrain.
sounds more like you blew out the springs and theyve wedged themselves into the clutch.
I did have my clutch fork bolt sheer, and wedge itself between the pp and transmission. it gouged the pp and pinned itself between the pp and transmission.

If you can shift the car when the engine is off, but not while its running it sounds like either the release bearing is not moving, which could be the slave cylinder not moving, or working properly, or it sounds like a pressure plate issue since thats what actually releases the clutch allowing you to switch gears.
I would get a buddy to step on the clutch and have someone look under the hood to visuially check slave cylinder movement, if that is moving in a full range of motion then I would say its time to change your clutch.

So I got it out today and it was the clutch disk that was defective. If you look at the pic you will see that a section blew apart and all the rivets ripped out on one side of the. clutch disk. I shouldn't have went cheap. But once I find the receipt I'm going to make salvo auto parts reimburse me for clutch, flywheel and labor. FYI the brand name was rhino PAC. I knew it was a bad idea back then but I was low on dough. I'm getting one from NAPA tomorrow. Thanks for the replies.
obviously I knew it had to do with my clutch, wouldn't have dropped tranny for nothing. So your first post didn't help none and your second post was just as useless.
haha....that's so funny. A damn noob asking for help and people give their honest advice on what the problem is. And low and behold, it's THE ******' CHEAP *** CLUTCH. Next time, don't even bother making threads asking for help. You seem to be such a genius.....cheap one at it.
