NEED HELP WITH CHIP INSTALL ON OBD1 P72!!!!!
Well i bought a pyr chip that came with the socket, another small chip, and a jumper wire, and instructions on how to install it. A friend of mine who installed chips previously did it for me, and we followed the instructions correctly, but after we put the ecu back together and put it in the car it did absolutely nothing! Vtec stayed the same, but my redline didnt change and thats all i want from this chip. At first i thought i had a bad chip, so i had it replaced with another one, and nothing changed. the only thing that i can think of is that we soldered the socket in the wrong place!! here are some pics of the ecu and the chip installed, is there anything wrong with the installation? thanx in advance!!
Blue arrow shows the other little chip that came with it, yellow arrow shows the socket as we soldered it
Here is everything installed, red arrow is the jumper wire
here is another close up
Please let me know if there is anything wrong with the installation!! thanx

well on the chip it says vtec-4400 in which case VTEC did stay the same and redline 9100 well you say the red line didnt change . . . idk
just saying that vtec stock is 4400 (on a gsr and the 2ndary butterflies hit at 5700)

your red arrow should be a resistor. the section "J1" right next to the red arrow should be your JUMPER wire. section where "C52" is, should have a 0.1µf ceramic disc capacitor. from the pictures i cant tell if the chip is installed the correct way with the notch pointing towards the left.

Re: NEED HELP WITH CHIP INSTALL ON OBD1 P72!!!!! (00b18b)
yeap thats the only three mistakes I see in order
to work well...
place the resistor where you placed the jumper wire
the jumper wire in the J1 slot
and the missing cap
after that you should be fine..
I bought a p28 that was missing 3 items
2 caps and the jumper wire..
bought those and installed then it worked beatifully..

Re: NEED HELP WITH CHIP INSTALL ON OBD1 P72!!!!! (mr.beeks)
thanx for the replies guys, i just wanna make sure that im getting what you are saying here just to be on the safe side. The jumper wire needs to be on the "j1" slot, i should have a resistor in the "r52" and a capacitor in the "c52" slot and the notch on the chip has to face to the left? So after im done with all that everything should work fine??

Pics are kinda blury and i thought i saw a capacitor in "c51" but there isnt one in there so grab two capacitors and your ecu should work.

indeed move over the jumper wire to J1 location.
R52 should be empty. Caps are not required on C51 and C52, I personally do not use them.

Yup, it will work fine without capacitors. Just move the jumper wire to "J1" and everything should be good to go.

well i bought a new chip that came with capasitors, redid everything, and as soon as i solder the jumper into the j1 slot, i go into limp mode, so i pull the jumper out, and everything goes back to stock!! i have no clue what could be wrong!! has anybody had this problem before, cuz i feel like giving up already!! this is the 3rd chip, and the problem is still the same. if anybody has any idea what is wrong please let me know!!!
