i noticed you have a 98sh, i have a 97sh and i wanted to ask you how much should an install be for a flywheel?

I am fairly new with these ludes and i wanted to make sure i didnt get charged an arm and a leg for.

also did you initially have problems getting the right suspension setup on your car because i realized that they dont make any shocks for our cars except for koni.
I am currently on TEIN S-TECH springs on stock shocks. any suggestions

thanks for the input by the way

I have a Fidanza 8lb flywheel($200 shipped ot me) with an Exedy race clutch ($250 shipped to me). Awesome combination. I could've gotten away with an Exedy OEM clutch but I decided to go with the race clutch since I track my car. My car only has an intake, cat, and exhaust.

If your car only has bolt-ons and you don't track your car, I would just go for the Exedy OEM style clutch ($120 shipped to you) and the Fidanza flywheel (you can find it on eBay for $200 shipped to you). Save the money.

Good luck.

i found a fidanza on here for i think it was 150 to my door? might have been cheaper. Look for a sponsor with a fidanza flywheel deal. Its gonna be pretty expensive to have the clutch and flywheel installed. It takes about 8 hrs of work on our car to drop the tranny. Labor charges are going to be UGLY. Hopefully you got the hook-ups or someone who has never done an SH

I reccomend stock flywheel lightend and balanced. Also to light a flywheel can do more harm then good. Stock flywheel is about 19lbs I had mine turned to about 12-13lbs works great has been that way for over 3years. Basic bolt ons plus N20 but thats a bolt on also . Just my 2cent

Someone is having a sale for supposedly 189$ shipped for the H22 Fidanza.. I guess not bad. But I prefer with the JUN. Its a 12 lb. flywheel. Not to light just in between stock and the Fidanza 8 lb. some have reported before that the starter would grind against the flywheel. but i think the newer batches of flywheel have been corrected.

Just make sure you do a proper breakin period with your clutch/flywheel combination.

I have a ACT 12lb in my car with i/h/e in my 4th gen and I love. I recommend a 12lb because its perfect for the H22a.

ive heard that the 8 is a little too light, and can cause you to lose some momentum. but its a little cheaper than the jun 12lb

How many times do I have to say it, 8lbs is IDEAL.

Do you have a car w/ an 8lbs flywheel ? No, because you "heard" about this and that; I own, drive and track a car with an 8lbs flywheel, and it's the best thing I've ever done to the car (2nd only to getting the suspension cornerweighted!)
Please, if you've never tried it, don't knock it; it's unfair to offer an uninformed opinion as fact.

ask 10 people get 10 different responses. Several different manufactuers make lightweight flywheels. I went with a ACT chromoly one and it does it job well.. RPMs gain are like instant and it hits rev points a lot faster the only down side is that it also loses rpms a lot faster do when you hit the clutch the rpms fall like crazy.

More than likely. Ask 10 people and 9 of those who reply don't know what they're talking about; with this reocurring flywheel question, that's obvious.

I have an honest question for you bb6h22a, have you ever driven a 12lbs flywheel also... because I find that you're pretty convinced that your 8pounder is better. If so can you give me your input on the disadvantages of the two...example the 8lbs drops too fast....thanks

No I haven't driven a 12lbs flywheel car.
I went from the OEM 18 pounder to the 8 lbs Fidanza and have NO complaints. ( I still drive the car on the street and it drives just as easily in day to day, traffic conditions.)
I don't understand your "drops too fast" question? I don't drag race my car, so the added benefit of less inertia spinning under the gas pedal, and the advantage for heel/toe, that the 8lbs flywheel offers more than outweighs the motor's RPMs "dropping too fast."

Yeah I guess you're right about the rpm drops but besides the fact that it revs faster than the oem how do I actually get "power" from this. ps I ask you these questions because your answers make sense by the way.thanks again.

Take a 5 lbs weight , tie it to a rope and spin it around above your head.
Next, take a 15 lbs weight, tie it to a rope, and spin it around above your head.
Which weigh takes less work [eg, power] to spin?
The lighter one, right? Of course
It's the same principle w/ the lighter flywheel; since the flywheel is essentially a weight hanging off the end of the crankshaft, when you reduce its mass, the engine can perform the same amount of "work" while exerting less "power."
A lighter flywheel doesn't add horsepower, it frees up existing power.
