Default is this going to replace the piston engine?

it's the new quasiturbine engine it's halfway between the rotary and turbine engine and was developed by a family in russia

here's the site

http://www.quasiturbine.com/

if you watch this short 15 min video you'll get the most of it

Looks like a standard rotary engine basically, with 4 sides instead of 3.

it's actually completly different though

instead of a three sided rotor it uses four blades and it's in an oval shell so it rotates from a diamond and then collapes into a square (more compression)

there are lots of these developmental engines out there, once I see an OEM make a car based around one of them I will beleive it has a chance.

It seems that every month for the last 50 years (or more), someone has come out with some kind of new engine that promises to 'revolutionize the world' with its increased HP, increased fuel economy, and decreased emissions. Yet none has been any kind of threat to the conventional piston engine. In other words, I am not holding my breath on this one.
