I would guess so. The OTC works more smoothly than the HF jack I had years ago, or any of the 3 (yes, that's right, 3) Craftsman Al jacks I had that crapped out on me. The Craftsman jacks were quite a bit different once you got them side-by-side with the OTC.
BTW, all three Craftsman jacks had the same failure mode. Leaking fluid and bleeding down under load. I would certainly not suggest them to anyone.

Re: (117)
i have some cheapie $80 jack, its 3 ton, lifts my car. Ive used it on all kinds of stuff, even pushing it neer its limit. never fails, i dont trust it as far as i can throw it, but i dont trust much thats holding a 2k lb car over me, so i always use jackstands.

I just ordered a Nevada Black Jack rapid pump, so when it gets here I will post some pics/ reviews. I decided on it because I asked the maker if they are rebuildable and he said they have seals etc. on hand, but he has sold 5000+ and hasn't had any failure, so hopfully its nice for $200.

Its Nevadablackjacks.com, but there is alot more info on the ebay site, but it looks very similar to the OTC, just has the holes in the side.

I have had 3 Cratfsman jacks go south too, If someone made a replacement ram they would be fine. You know there about to take a **** when you see fluid spots all over the shop.

I have a Michelin jack. I had the rear end of the car on it for 7 months and it never settled. The only problem that I have is that it does not fit under real low cars.

Re: (tepid1)
craftsman = junk I had a high lift suv craftsman jack tip over and it only lasted about a year.
The best jack I have ever used was an arcon jack that I bought at costco. I have both the aluminum and steel one. Both have a jack height of over 20". The steel one is very heavy though but stable like a rock. I lift my integra over 4' to take the motor out with the steel arcon jack. Jacking it up sideways with one wheel off the cinder block, it wasn't going anywhere. I had it for about 3 years now and it's still perfect

For those who's jack's have failed, do you tend to leave it up/extended for a while? I've never left my 3.5ton jack up for long (jack it up, insert stands, drop), and I've had it for 10 years. Only problem its very heavy steel.

As my craftsman aluminum 1.5ton also took a **** on me after a year of very light and occasional use, I am looking for a good quality jack that will last a long time. I dont mind paying $200 as long as its going to last.</TD></TR></TABLE>.
they only lift 17" that way to low

Re: (HiProfile)
I have a 3T all steel Craftsman that's over 10 years old that works flawlessly. I don't believe the new jacks are built with that kind of quality any more, unfortunately. I never left my aluminum Craftsman jacks extended, but I've left the big 3T extended many times. The 3T is still going strong, but I've been through 3 of the aluminum Craftsman jacks.

Have you tried searching google for the PN? Or eBay? You can find them at tons of places.

I have that same jack and never had a problem with it. I've had it at least 3 years. I'd agree that it's probably not all that stable when it's at high lift but I just jack the car up and throw jackstands under it. No way I'm getting under a car on just a jack. I don't trust any of them that far, heard too many stories.

Re: (chairwitharmrests)
Has anyone tried this jack below. Looks like a good combo of price and quality. Also check out how low it is!!
