it's the poser way of pulsing... hammer the pedal down and let up, with some kind of rhythm to make it look like you used pulse.

thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
You don't even need to pulse on stuff like that.

Right, but what I've seen that people like to do is to lay down an ugley bead with filler metal, then wash back over it with a pulse to smooth it out. This is not a good practice, nor is it the fastest thing to do. It's much better to be able to put down a nice bead the first time and walk away from it.

1) put tape over the ends of the pipe
2) put purge hose through the tape and tape it in to seal
3) poke hole in other end of taped pipe to vent.
I think you can probably get as much from that as you would from seeing it.

another crazy question...when ur welding, is the purging always ON? hehe..meaning is there always GAS flowing inside the pipe? or can you just kinda like fill it up and start welding?
hehee.....sorry for the stupid question...

Should ALWAYS be on while welding your first pass...or any that will remelt the internal surface. Now, if you have a 2 pass weld, and you weld the first pass, shut off purge for the second pass (but don't burn through the inside), the internal color will darken... this is not a problem, only an appearance issue. If you're doing a showpiece weld, you'd want to leave the argon on during any times that the metal is hot, and about 30 seconds after completion.

Ahh..ok, Thanks! Now, I have to go and buy an extra argon tank! I kinda wanna try purging with a C25 hehee...see how that goes. But most likely im just going to get another tank because I still have credit from my welding shop, but im contemplating whether to get a tank...OR invest a BANDSAW...what u think?!

If you've been tig welding with C25, that's the absolute worst thing you can do. ARGON is the only gas you need for your torch...unless the odd occasion ever comes up that you need to run DC for aluminum.
...and you don't have to have two bottles to purge. Just buy a splitter. I probably do twice the welding at home that most of you do, and I still havn't felt the NEED to get a second bottle of argon for purging.

I also use the rubber cups that go on the ends of round furniture legs so as not to scratch the floor. These just pop into the tubes and I have a hole in the end to slip through the 1/4" teflon tubing I use for the purge supply.

Oh no no...I have an argon tank, although my first time I was tigging, my welding store where I bought the tank gave me a C25 mix gas...I was tigging and was like why is my welds look CRAP! hahaha....then the people at hobart forums told me that its the gas, so I got a replacement...
Reason I say C25 mix is that I have a second bottle for my mig...(actually its my friends MIg)...thats why I was wondering if its possible, thats all, guess not! haha
Can you show me how you do that spliiter??? do you have a picture? Do I need to get a Dual regulator thing or can I just get a single one and just split it?
thanks again for answering this for me...I appriciate it!!! And ur right, if you just use a splitter...why should we get another bottle..oh I have 110cf size tank!

something like this works fine:
I found it at the link below, but you may find it cheaper elsewhere.
