Taking electronics out before welding the tub in car?
My uncle, who does some welding on his spec Ford racer, has offered to weld shut the drill holes that I have left in my tub after removing my 4 point, Sparco buckets, and harnesses, all of which were welded through the floor.
Do we need to remove the ECU, alternator, or anything else before striking a weld on the tub? My uncle seemed slightly concerned about the charges involved and possibly frying some electronics?
Any input/experience would be greatly appreciated....
Jon

Most will say disconnect the battery. I have never had any problems without disconnecting the battery, but I do take the extra precaution now. Just disconnect the battery and you'll be fine.
GOOD LUCK!

I usually unplug any expensive electronics for safetys sake. If you have a good ground on the chassis then you should be fine, but better safe than sorry. It only takes a min. to unplug the ecu.
