second attempt at charge piping....
hello everybody.
i replaced my intake manifold to a zc intake so i had to make a new upper charge pipe. this time i made it smaller.... it was 2.5" and now i used 2".
sorry but i grinded the welds for that clean look
mocking it up:
need some paint.... but thats it

Well let me state this. Grinding the welds brings even more unwanted heat to the area. Also making that joint weaker as less material is there. If there is more material there then it is inside of the pipe and hindering flow.

Have you ever seen a charge pipe break? Me either.

your right... but its only a charge pipe, it doesn't have any stress on it... and it doesn't reach temps that will cause it to brake....

Re: (RACEPAK)
Why are you grinding? I've only been welding for a few weeks and my welds look decent enough to be on a finished piece that I would be proud to sell and this is with a fluxcore welder.
Just practice. Minimize the gaps, have a slow steady hand and they should look fine. Use a wire brush to clean off the slag and splatter. They'll look nice.
Don't expect to get much for piping kits. I've searched before and found I can score a nice second-hand aluminum piping kit for around $300 shipped in the classifieds. Keep in mind most people would pay a decent amount more for aluminum than mild steel
