Miller Maxstar 150 stl???
I'm looking to purchase a tig welder for my own personal use in my home garage. I don't really care for aluminum so I thought this might be the perfect welder. Anyone have any hands on experience with this machine.I tired to search but had no luck. A few people from other sites have said nothing but good things about them. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

You will need the amperage controll pedal or tortch finger controll, part #s are on millers web page under accesories for the welder. So far I like it but I haven't had to much time to use it. I bought mine used, if I had to pay full price I would of bought something else.

Yeah if I decide to go with the maxstar 150 stl it will be with the foot control. I'm not a fan of the fingertip control. What other machines are in the same league?

Yeah I looked into it, I think it's called the V 155. The one thing I didn't like with that machine is that u can't use foot/finger control with it and the torch has the gas valve in it. Anyone else use the maxstar 150????

I have, it's a funny little machine, welds decently enough though. You'll want the 6 pin foot control, the finger control is awful (velcros around the torch, and will move around on you).
When all is said and done though, you might as well get the Econotig package. Only a few dollars more (if you get the full Maxstar travel pack, the econotig is cheaper), and you'll get AC controls.

U think the econotig will give u the same quality weld (dc) as the maxstar? I would rather have a machine that can weld dc than weld half fast ac/dc. I believe the lowest amperage the econotig can use is 30 amps. Thanks for your input.

Still have one. Don't use it much since I got a Dynasty.
Great little machine, lift arc is 100x better than scratch, but HF is the way to go. The STH has a pulser and HF start.
If you have access to 220V, then find a used synchowave.

i run my sync 200 of my 30amp dryer outlet, i have welded up to 145 amps doing some al **** and it was just fine never poped the breaker once.
