Man I really like this idea, you need to post dimensions and some drawings so I can build this haha, I'd imagine this is potentially lighter than the stock xmember too no?
Nice work

Once its all finished i post it up. As far as weight it seems to be close to stock maybe a little heavier. But the cool thing is there is no car modifications needed to put it in.

I second this. You said 6.5lbs and you're getting a 2.0 60ft time. You have to change your launching techniques. A redline clutch drop is just resulting in tire spin and crossmember carnage.

Tire rebounbd is what i was thinking to. The 60ft are around 1.6 to 1.7 not sure where you got 2.0. But i do agree that dropping the clutch is harsh.

Do you have more pictures of the rear cut out and the front scatter tray. Also the rear alxe was it a rear axle to begin or was it a wishbone you converted to axle. Looks good. What mounts, tire & size are you running. With how much tire pressure and launch RPM. If you dont mind me asking.

I didnt have a front catch pan. The rear axle was a MB products straight axle. I had HASport mounts with urethane inserts, hadnt put in the solids yet. i was on a 26x10x15 M&H tire, running 5.5 psi. launched at 7k rpm. Car dead hooked, bogged a little and cut 1.43-1.48 60's. With more runs I could have improved that, but it was consistent, so I left it

did u drop the clutch or ride it out?
did u fall out of vtec at all when you bogged that little bit?
just curious.
oh also how many passes on the slicks?
1.4's would be nice.

You need a plate like that which bolts in between the motor and transmission and goes from the front cross member to the rear. You have to mill the bellhousing down the thickness of the plate though.

dropped the clutch, it would bog to 6k, and start pulling immediately. stayed in vtec, and maintained 8-9 psi. had it pulling timing and adding fuel on launch, so anti-lagish style. slicks had 15-20runs

Ohh i was wondering how you would do that. So you have to take off the the bell housing for the difference of the plate. Got it.

Looks tough. I hope it holds, but if this one bends, remember triangles and tensile and compressive strength are orders of magnitude stronger than straight pieces and perpendicular forces and moments.

Well after getting frustrated with flacking welders i decided to take a stock cross x-member to Steen Chassies and have Gary do what he does. Gary double plated every thing and seam welded every thing all over. Cant wait to try it out.

Re: Custome CRX Rear Cross Member From Scratch.
Thread from the past! So, I had a major issue with my rear cross member. I find out that it was cracked a day before my final race of the season. I tried to find info on this but it seems to be a rare issue. I will be re-enforcing the next one. We spent 8 hours to temporary fix the cross member (welded and plated). I've been tracking my Crx for 12 years. Here are some photos:
