Default Building my own 20 ton shop press

I need advice from people who know about hydraulic setups. I'm building my own shop press, similar to this design

I want my press to be operated by a foot pedal so I can have both hands free. I was looking at this jack from *gasp* Harbor Freight:

http://www.harborfreight.com/automot...ack-95553.html

.......and this foot pump:

http://www.harborfreight.com/garage-...ump-98318.html

Obviously I would have a longer hydraulic line made, so that would be taken care of. My question is, can the hydraulic jack/foot pedal be combined? It seems that I would have to pull the pump off the back of the jack being that the foot pedal would be the new pump. I just have no idea if the pedal would be putting out too much/little power to the jack, or if this setup is even practical to begin with.

Any serious input is appreciated.

why don't you just turn the HF air trigger into a foot operated pedal? or get a matched hyd. pump and cylinder

Damn, I didn't think about that. Gonna go look around for an air foot pedal.

Ebay, FV320. Don't expect it to last forever, but for $30-35, it's the best bang for the buck.

That original design sucks. It allows for too much movement and makes for some inaccuracy when pressing.

Try something with this design (or just pop the $500 for something similar):

There's less sway meaning it's less likely to press something in/on crooked.
