Default Teggy auto shift lock issue

Ok few weeks ago i bought my wife a db7 auto. Runs/drives great, but today she gets in to leave and it wont come out of "park". So i go look at it. I put key in shift lock and it moves like normal. But the min i take key out while car is in park it stays in park and won come out.

Anyone had this issue or know a way to "by pass" the lock so she does mot have leave in "n" and use ebrake to park?

Check the brake light switch. Have your wife step on the brake pedal, and see if the brake lights are working.

Take out the center console, and check the shift lock solenoid with a test light or dvom, it should make a clicking noise with the key on when you press the brake pedal.

When you checked the brake lights, was the shifter working. If its intermittent, the brake switch would be my first choice. Brake switch faillures are fairly common. The next time the problem occurs, unplug the brake switch, and use a jumper wire to check the brake switch. You can just replace the brake switch for about $50.
