OEM B16 Y1 LSD into cable LS transmission possible?
Is it possible to take an OEM Y1 LSD and put it into a cable LS transmission?
Or is it possible to swap the 1-5 LS gears into a Y1 case?
I have a Y1 with an iffy second gear on the countershaft that looks like it could use replacing. Everything else looks usable, but I cannot find a replacement second gear.
I have a 88-91 LS transmission that is currently starting to grind the synchros, but other than that it is good to go, still being driven at the moment. I have another LS transmission with a bad hub, bad ISB, but the gears look good.
I have a bad YS1 GSR transmission, that needs a lot of work, the only thing that is good on it is the input shaft, but I don't think I can use this transmission with any of the LS/b16 gearing.
I have fresh synchros and bearings NIB, for the Y1.
Since I can't find a good 2nd gear for the b16, it's pretty much useless at the moment. The car this transmission would be going into is still a daily driver...
Everything I've researched so far about gear swapping and diff swapping is all for Hydraulic, or 92-93 GSR/LS cable transmissions. Nothing on the older transmissions.
Has anybody done this before? Or know of where some info is on it?
My gut tells me it's possible, but it has been wrong before...

B series.... Cable trans... Interchangeable.... With other... Cable trans...
B series... Hydro trans.. Interchangeable.. With other.. Hydro trans...
92-93 YS1 cable has a bigger spline count which is why it is interchangeable with Hydro.

What year is the LS trans? '88 - '89 (along with '86 - '87) is a first gen Integra trans and more or less a D-series trans with 5th gear outside the main case. '90 - '91 is a 2nd gen and shares some parts with your B16 trans. As for the LSD if the bolt pattern is the same it will work. IIRC though most or all of those OEM LSDs used a 14 or 15 bolt pattern while all others are 10 bolt. You can most likely swap the final drive over from the B16 trans though as long as the LS trans is a Y1/J1/S1.

I believe one is an S1. So to confirm, the S1 gearset will fit on the Y1 shafts? I can't change the FD/ring gear, it would need to stay B16 due to the LSD bolt pattern being different.

You can use the S-1 gear stacks in the Y-1 as a matched set. The FD from the S-1 will not work with the 15 bolt Y-1 LSD.
The Y-1 and S-1 use the same synchros, sleeves, bearings and seals.
