My clutch is messing with me...
It started acting up last night. I would press the pedal in and while letting back out it would engage sooner than usual. I didn't think much of it because I was extremely tired at 1:15am after working all night. The next day it seemed as if it never happened and I had forgotten about it. Well, later on today as I was getting to work, the pedal would just go all the way to the floor and the clutch wouldn't disengage. Luckily this happened right near work so I just parked in the lot and went in to work. Tonight the pedal just goes all the way to the floor. The car will start but will not go into gear...
WTF is the problem?
It is a '97 Civic EX Sedan.

probably ran outa fluid, check the reservoir. if its dry you have a leak (probably onto your carpet in your car). if theres fluid on your carpet and no fluid in the res then your master has a leak, if so replace it.
if theres fluid in the res then your slave cylinder may have gone bad or possibly the master but usually the slave.

Re: My clutch is messing with me...
Thanks. I haven't seen any fluid anywhere but I'll have another look in the daylight tomorrow.
Are those things easily fixable? Can I do it while it's sitting in the parking lot? How long should it take?

My 1996 Accord is in the same condition right now. When it sits for a few hours, the clutch is slack. If I "pump" it about 10 times, the pressure builds and it will operate for the trip. I will apparently need to replace the master cylinder.

Re: My clutch is messing with me...
The master does have fluid in it but there is fluid on the carpet... I guess I'll need a new master? Or slave? There is another reservoir right next to the master that is empty. Is that the slave? If I fill it up could I make it home?

Re: My clutch is messing with me...
the big res is brakes lol the little res is for the clutch. if thats empty thats your problem, buy a new master cylinder, and maybe slave idk how much they are; if they're not much might as well do both. and get some new dot3 fluid and flush the line and bleed it all well
