Default Inner cv joint

Hi I replaced both outter cv joints and the inner cv boots on my b18c integra, I cleaned the inner joints in petrol, regreased everything and put them back together. After abit I noticed It started making a grinding type sound when accelerating and it kept getting worse so decided to pull apart the inner left cv joint to find that the bearings were completely stuffed.
After having no luck trying to find a new inner joint I decided to just buy a complete 2nd hand driveshaft and stuck my new outer joint on it, put it back in the car drove around for abit but it was still making the same sound so I have just pulled the right hand side out but it all seems fine in there.
The only thing I can think of is having the inner bearings round the wrong way? I had the tappered side pointing out.
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers Matt
