Civic Transmission is slipping...I think
Hey everyone!
I have an '87 Civic 4 door sedan, not a special LX or DX model, 1.5 litres.
So recently my car has been slipping. And when I say that, I mean that if i press the gas aggressively in a lower RPM for normally 3rd and 4th and 5th, the RPMs will raise, but the speed will not increase.
After tinkering with it, and lookin on the net, I remembered that the gentleman who did my smog mentioned that my clutch cable was a little tight (this has been about 2 years) So i loosened the clutch cable to the correct "play" and test drove it. There was no slipping of any sort! Now, today (one day after i fixed it) the car is slipping again.
My father said oil can be on the flywheel, but I cant visualize that.
Any ideas? Im not sure why it would be working great for a day and then stop.
Thanks in advance

Re: (azianretard)
honestly i think you need a new clutch...if your cable was tight than it was probably adjusted to its limit...its just my opinion but a slipping clutch means its time for a new one...oil on the flywheel would have given you problems a while ago, not out of the blue

Dunno if ya replaced tha clutch yet, but if was slipping it may still be good, They get whats called glazing, its caused from the heat generated by yhe slip, It takes a little while to wear / chip off, make sure to granny shift it , and baby throtle it for a week or so, depending on the amount of clutching you do. Try to avoid traffic if your still slipping! Just because you dont notice it on the tach, It can be slipping slightly still !
Hope it helps bro !
Goodluck !
