Axle Seal
Is there another name for this part at parts stores? My b16 transmission has been leaking a significant amount of fluid. I looked under the car and the passenger axle seated completely into seal and is not leaking a drop but the driver side where the intermediate shaft goes in, part if it is seated but the is about an inch of the seal that is gapped maybe 1/16 of an inch. so my questions are?
*is there another name for the part?
*is it ok to buy from a chain parts store or should i move on over to honda?
*is there a special tool needed for installation?
this is the seal...well behind the shaft anyways
and the gap
thanks in advance for whatever help and information is offered.

Sure that isn't a dizzy seal leaking?
What year B16 tranny/midshaft?
Yes, they are called axle seals, the only parts store you should get them from in Honda or someone who stocks Honda parts like Synchrotech on here.

Re: Axle Seal
Clean up the whole area...Then check for leaks to ensure it is coming from the halfshaft seal. If it is the seal.. Easy to go pick one up from your local Honda/Acura dealer and pop a new one in. I would stay away from chain store seals and stick with OEM. Check the differential and halfshaft for any excessive play as they can cause an axle seal to go bad.
