Default why is my car still overheating?

okay so i been having trouble fight this overheating problem now for 2 weeks. i have a 89 crx si with a d16a6. when it first ran hot on me 2 weeks ago i pulled over and looked everything over and noticed that my lower radiator hose was not getting hot,so i assumed the thermostat was not opening. i replaced it with another one test drove it and it still ran hot. so then i thought maybe it was just a bad thermostat, so i took it out and ran no thermostat test drove it and still overheating lower radiator hose is still not getting hot which i totally don't how it couldn't be because the coolant should be constantly flowing. I then thought maybe the water pump was bad and wasn't pump the coolant through the engine properly i replaced it and test drove it with and without a thermostat and still overheats. i have wired my fan up to a switch and is on the whole time im test driving it trying all these different test. i replaced the headgasket like a week before i started having all these problems no white smoke out of the exhaust at all. there is no coolant in oil or oil in coolant. im am bleeding the system when i fill the radiator. i am totally stumped and so frustrated with this. if the coolant tempeture sensor under the dizzy go bad would that cause me to run hot? that the only other thing i can think of i did change it out like a month ago because i had hard cold starts and was hoping by replacing it would fix it but it didn't. but the tempeture sensor i got was out of a car at the junkyard so it might have been bad. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

it has a brand new water pump, i also poured water through the radiator and it flowing out the drain hole pefectly so i know the radiator is not clogged and i put my original coolant tempeture sensor in and it's still doing the same thing also my heat is working fine so i know it's not my heater core. it seems to only do it when im setting still and thats with no thermostat and the fan on constantly. im im moving or punching it then it drops right back down to where it's suppose to be. any other suggestions im totally out of options

You have two water temp sensors, one for the guage and one for the ecu. No it will not cause it to run hot, the one your referring to is the guage. Check your timing, are you getting any pressure in that hose now? Still may be the head gasket was improperly installed. Do you have enough flow to the radiator? Try a dif rad. Are you losing coolant?

my timing is perfect i know that for sure im pretty sure the head gasket in stalled right because it ran fine for a week driving it everyday. when i layed the gasket on the block the install it i notice a coupe of the passages wered cver up a little i flipped it over and everything lined up perfect. i guess i don't have enough flow to the radiator because the lower radiator hose is not getting hot. im not loosing coolant either

do you see water moving when the car is on and the radiator cap is open?

a friend of mine had this happen, it would overheat but the heater would barely get warm, but the impeller seperated from the shaft on the brand new honda pump

i have a 98 civic, and am having a similar problem. i have replaced the thermostat twice already, i am not loosing coolant, my laser thermometer is reading that all the temps are alright until you get past the thermometer, then it spikes up, but when the thermostat is out, it still reads hot. the lower radiator hose is cold and the air blowing from the fan is cold. just took it in to get the timing done. help!

Still sounds like a coolant circulating issue or possibly an air flow issue.

If temp is OK as long as car is moving it is an air flow issue, make sure rad fan is running in the correct direction.

If temp is OK when RPMs are up it's a coolant circulation issue, check the water pump, new parts can be defective.

With no thermostat and everything else working properly your problem should be low engine/coolant temp.

A cold lower rad hose is an indication of poor coolant circulation.94

the temp varies sometimes but most of the time if im cruising normally 45mph around 2500rpm or if im siting still at a light the temp will start to rise if im getting into it and the rpms are up it drops right back down almost instantly which kinda tells me it's definitly a circulation problem because when the rpm's are up and im getting into it i guess forcing the water to flow more then if i was sitting still or just cruising

so i ran another test i took the upper radiator hose of the the head and the lower off the thermostat housing and took a garden hose and flow water throughthe opening at the head full blast and it flowing out of the thermostat housing good. so does that tell me that the there is no clogs in the engine anywhere. so im guessing that maybe the water pump might have been defective possibly what do yall think? also what is the proper tourqe specs so i can compare to what i did when i tourqed the head down

so today i got a z6 headgasket put it on got everything back together started it up and and water is leaking into the cylinders some how my oil and coolant looks like a chocolate milkshake. so at this point im pissed i take the head back off all four cylinders are full of water i cleaned everything out made sure there was nothing in between the head and gasket and block and gasket put everything back together once again start it up and i notice the water and oil mixture is pouring out of the back of the block im guessing where the head meets the block. im so frusterated i've never had this much trouble in my life for something so simple. does anyone think my head is warped but even if it was warped a little would it be pouring out like it is. is the anything special you have to do with a z6 headgasket on a d16a6? im so tempted to just get rid of the motor im tired of putting money into this ****.

got the same problem with my ej1 my cousin (honda mechanic) just told me dont even bother replacing the HG cuz you might have to deal with not having the same compression and screwing up your piston ring and just get an engine.

Definitely sounds like a warped head, [or block], if it's as bad as you say, " notice the water and oil mixture is pouring out of the back of the block" you should be able to tell with a straight edge... http://books.google.ca/books?id=jCC5...esult&resnum=3 94
