had a friend do a valve adjustment on my 97 gsr motor, afterwards the ticking was still there and the engine was shaking/vibrating a little. so i had another more knowledgeable friend redo the valve adjustment, he said the 1st guy didnt do it correctly, and adjusted it to factory specs, he also adjusted my timing to factory because for some reason it was retarded 6 degrees. my engine feels the same maybe slightly smoother now not sure, but the engine still shakes a little at idle, not as bad as after the first adjustment, but before it didnt shake at all. what could it be? i think i read somewhere before that it could be a bent valve spring? thanks

Are you sure they used the correct clearances?? Is the mechanical timing correct? There could be alot of things that are causing the problem.

Sounds similar to the problem I had. If you can, try a compression test, and see if you're compression is good. Could be a bent valve, worse case, bad piston rings.

pretty sure second guy used correct clearances, he used the one under the hood, i think its like .6 .7 somewhere around there. yeah ill try to compression test it asap, i was also thinking bent valve because i read somewhere that thats a possibility in a bad valve adjustment
