Upshift indicator 96 hx d16y5 100% stock
Can some one explain the description and operation of the upshift indicator on my USDM EJ7 D16Y5? It only has 48,000 miles on it, i am the second owner, and it is 100% stock.( im in it for the mpg's). Anyways when the engine warms up and is at operating temperature, the upshift indicator light comes on at really low rpm, to if i do shift when indicated the engine feels like it is bogging/stumbling, this is not that of normal operation is it? Will a valve lash adjustment help?

If you google "civic HX shift light" it will link 100000000 forum pages that all say basically the same thing.
Its based on fuel economy, but cannot always be taken into account, such as steep inclines for example. Its the ideal shift point, under ideal conditions, to achieve the best fuel economy possible. Also has to be driven with an EXTREMELY light foot. If you are throttle happy, you will not succeed.
