Switch between two engine maps
This is a plug in board that sits inside an OBD1 ecu where an EPROM would normally be. The board has space for two EPROMs that can then be switched between so you don't need to open up the ECU each time. So far I've used it on a 2000 Integra Type R with a P72 to toggle between two rev limits.
Other uses could be to change between -
Street / Strip tunes for different fuels.
Tunes for open/closed exhaust.
Optimise mapping for nitrous control.
Add a valet mode for when others borrow the car.
Switching between EPROMs can always be made with the ignition off. In some cases, the switching can be made with car running when your two tunes use the same base map.
Introductory pricing on the board is $140 shipped.

What would some other benefits be? I only leave the middle screw in my ECU cover and w/ the ZIF changing the eproms is a breeze.

I didn't make it completely clear, but if you've got two ROMs with only mapping / data changes like the rev limiter, you can switch while the car is running. This would be the case if you used a system like Hondata or another editor to make your tunes from a single base map. If you're running two different ROMs then you can only switch the tunes with the car off.
Ultimately, this board is just a quicker and more convenient way of changing between two settings.

That's possible. However, you would still need an adaptor to make the larger EPROM fit the ECU as well as the external switch circuit. It doesn't make it any easier as you have to be more careful when programming to make sure the pages are correct.
Using two 29C256 devices gives you the most flexibility to use existing tunes and chips. This board isn't meant to work with any particular tuning system or software so that you can go from using a couple of generic chips to two Hondata tunes.

It depends on which 2xC512 device you use. Those that I could find when this was developed were all 32 pin packages, although it is good to know that there are alternatives now.
This board is also true plug and play in the OBD1 Honda ECU. If you've got a socketed board then you don't need anything else.

I have tested the board with the Hondata S200 unit so I can't say as to whether or not it fits with an S100, although it may just from the image off Hondata's site.
The board includes a 2m loom and a toggle switch with built in LED to indicate which EPROM is being used.
Introductory pricing is $140 USD shipped.

I'll update the first post in a second. But in some situations you can switch with the car running . Generally, if you've got the same base map that you've tuned from there won't be any problems with switching over - but it's something you should always check. Of course you have to use common sense when doing this and it's not recommended you switch over at 6000rpm but there's no technical reason stopping you.
Eg - With Hondata you go in and make a base map and save that. You then change the data and save that to the second EPROM.
If you can't get the chips to switch with the car running then, yes, you'll have to turn the ignition off and switch it then.

In terms of hardware, the board doesn't have any clearance problems with the ECU header. I've connected to Hondata ROMs and got the ECU info and error codes so datalogging shouldn't be a problem.
