Default Running a chipped ecu from RyWire

okay so i did have a chipped ECU in my integra (not sure what it was other than an OBD1 vtec ECU) when i bought it and it ran pretty well on that but after getting it stolen out of my car one night i have been running it on a hondata s300 i had from another car and i made a basemap to get it started and so i can putt around town with it but it doesnt run the best and id like to get the car back to where it was but i dont have the $500+ to get my car Tuned on the S300 ecu and dont trust myself to do it. but i see you can get a chipped ECU from RyWire for $200 where you just tell them your setup and they send you a chipped OBD1 ecu and you plug it in and go, how close could they get the car to full potential? anybody have any first hand experience using this service? i know what every part of the motor in the car is so i can describe the engine to a tee.

thanks for any help guys, hopefully i can be hitting vtec again soon

no matter where you buy an ecu from, no matter how they set up the map, it will still always be a basemap and require further tuning.

i understand that i was just wondering how close or how good they could get it to run off just the mail order tune, because the car doesnt run that well right now

Just get a street tune on you s300. It will be better than any basemap, and it shouldnt cost more than $100.

anyone charging only $100 for a full street tune should never be trusted.

$100 is pretty high... Im not talking about a perfect street tune where you spend hours perfecting every cell. Im talking about a nice simple tune that will keep you in a good AFR and good safe timing. Do a few WOT throttle pulls, and 30 or so minutes of driving around cruising. That will get you 90% of the way there. Usually its closer to $50... If you are looking for any more you should just go to a dyno.

and another thread on honda-tech goes to ****, big surprise.

theres nowhere around here where im gonna get a tune period, let alone for $50 or $100, if i couldve done that i obviously wouldve done it already. but i live in east bumfuck maine where there are probably 4 guys in the state serious about hondas, and only one that knows how to tune one and the rest are a bunch of idiots driving smoking stock single cams that they think are hot ****.

At least you have a positive attitude! ......

Sounds like you need to buy a wideband and some software and learn to tune yourself.
