My honda has been in the garage for now six months and I wanted to know if there were any precautions I should take before trying to fire the car up.

It had no gas so I will be putting fresh gas and changing the oil before trying to fire it up but was just wondering if any one had any tips to try and counteract any damage that might have been done to the car from sitting so long.

Car is a b20v frankenstein build if that makes any difference.

Fresh gas, fresh oil and filter and fresh coolant should be all you need, if it is a fresh build, use none detergent oil, and just water for the coolant, start engine and allow it to warm up, turn engine off and drain oil and water/coolant, fill with preferred oil and a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze, put 300-500 miles on the engine and replace the oil and filter. 94

I daily drove the car for about 3k miles so it isn't necessarily a fresh build but would you recommend the same process though?

I actually got a new one because the old battery was already dead when I left

take out ecu fuse and crank it for 30 seconds so you have oil pressure...thats about it..and put new gas..

No Offense but whats the difference when your car is sitting at the airport parking garage when it sits while your on a two week vacation?

you can do this but not neccesary, honestly ive been doing this since 2003 and i have bought cars from the auction that have oil at any level at the dipstick start it and then drive it home

If it is not a fresh build then I would not worry about anything except new gas, an oil/filter change should be done sooner then later and a coolant drain and flush can't hurt, but neither the oil or coolant needs to be done before start up.

I do agree with cibao2ner pull ECU fuse or unplug the distributor and crank the engine over, [not sure you need to do it for a full 30 sec.] to get some oil to the top of the engine before starting it. 94

I agree.

Removing the old fuel sounds good, but may prove to be quite a hassle.
