Speedo doesn't work
Hey guys new to the site, use crxcommunity for my crx but recently got a 2000 Civic EX bone stock with just over 210,000 miles and i've heard great things about this site. Anyways, The speedometer rarely works--and i mean RARELY (like 1% of the time). And its random.
Usually it sticks around ~20mph even if I'm going 65mph and when I'm accelerating it bounces/jumps around 20mph. Any clue what this is? I'm much more savvy when it comes to engine and exhaust work, but I wouldn't think this is too hard, just need some troubleshooting. Thanks in advance!!!!

Re: Speedo doesn't work
If the car runs differently when the speedometer isn't working it's likely the speed sensor is bad. If it runs fine it's likely the circuitboard just needs to be resoldered.

Disconnect the VSS and inspect the pins for corrosion. Very common for pin deformation to occur and water to enter the connector and rot the pins away. Causes all kinds of problems.
Post back and I will help you further. Bring pictures of the connectors. If there is no corrosion, a slight pressure upward into the spring on the connector can be used to correct many speedo problems.
