sound of bad needle bearing vs. ball bearing?
I bought a GSR tranny that made a bearing whine sound... I thought it was probably the mainshaft bearing before opening it and actually checking, and when I did open it up I found out that one of the needle bearings is blown up. What kind of noise would a bad needle bearing make? (it crumbled into pieces on like one side and some of the little roller things fell off) Oh, and what are the chances of any damage to anything, and what could it have done if it was run like that for a while?
