Should I remove my A/C
I have a jrsc gsr hatch and am looking for input from you guys. Should I pull my A/C ? I don't daily drive the car and its only hot here 4 mos a year tops . When I do drive it in the summer 90 % of the time I dont even use the A/C due to horsepower loss with it on I dont wanna get pulled on lol . I do however like my A/C when I am just cruising on a day off going to the mall or something. What do you guys think keep it or remove it ?? I cant make up my mind so tell me what ya think ! whats the horsepower difference gonna be 5 hp , 10hp ??

Dude keep your air. Can't be cool if you are sweaty. Literally. AC is so nice. I kept AC on my dd GSR-t car. Was hell during install and any repair, but so very worth it. I say to all who shelve AC for HP in their DD......why?

Absolutely, keep the A/C, as mentioned there is no HP loss when A/C is not on and very little when it is on.
There are ways to offset the "extra" weight of the A/C system that are a lot more comfortable then pulling the A/C system. 94

Only remove it if it does not function. Its about 50 pounds of weight if you remove the entire system. Not worth it in my opinion especially if it still works.

i want to keep my a/c as well too because of window fog and leather seats but with the turbo comin its not looking good without major issues and if the car is all motor keep it its not a track car

Re: Should I remove my A/C
The engine is a supercharged gsr I was thinking of pulling the A/C to install another half size radiator to use for a heat exchanger for my lht intercooler .I want to be able to keep those intake temps as cool as possible . I dont know so far the heat exchanger I have seems to work fine and yeah I do like A/C on occasion .The A/C works great and the compressor , dryer and expansion valve are new this past summer .Sounds like for now I'll keep it I guess thanks for all the input .Oh and as far as the weight well I am fully loaded last race weight including me was 2780lbs in an EK hatch thats heavy. I have system, subs, full int , ect ... car runs pretty good but it is heavy for a hatch .So as far as losing the A/C for the weight thats not gonna happen if I would see considerable gains in hp say 5-10 then it would be worth it if not the A/C stays

i dont believe you are going to pick up 5-10 hp by removing. maybe 1-3 hp gain. weight savings is the only advantage and not having a sweaty back far outweighs weight savings in my opinion. you can buy an oem aluminum a/c mount which will save you 5 lbs. i dont even daily drive my car but i kept the a/c because its very necessary in oklahoma in the summertime. i had a friend pass out in starbucks one day because of heat exhaustion after he was driving his hatch with no a/c. thats how hot it gets here

How much boost you running? If you are running more than 10lbs it could be possible to gain 5-10 hp on a hot day. I know the modified JRSC really start to build heat and heat sink into the intake air.
