Default running rich? ignition timing?

is it true that if your running rich u can retard your ignition timing slightly and improve the air fuel mixture thus not running as rich anymore.

makes sense, since retarded timing increases temps and advanced lowers it. i think so. please correct me if im wrong, thank you.

one last thing, if i were to retard my timing would i loose power since i no longer have my timing advanced or would i gain power from not running as rich? cuz we all know too rich of air fuel mixture looses power. thanx

Spark timing & mixture are different things. You aren't gonna really fix one by messing around with the other.

like he stated before, if your running rich timing willing not help you...the only thing that happens when you retard your timing is you change the point at which your mixture is ignited.
