Default Rev Limiter on 96 Accord

Does anyone know what the rev limiter is set to at the factory for a 96 Accord? It has a 2.2L with Vtec. It seems to be kicking in at 3,250 rpms. Is this correct? I thought the vtec doesn't kick in until you hit 5,000 rpm. I just did a timing belt job but I don't know if this happening before or not since I didn't get that high since it was over due for the timing belt.

automatic transmission and in neutral? the rev limiter is pretty low, but I don't remember exactly what RPM it is set at. Are you driving down the road?

It's a 5 speed manual and it was doing it both while I was driving and while I was reving the motor just sitting in the garage.

It didn't have this problem before you changed the timing belt? Since you just replaced the timing belt you probably want to recheck your cam/crank timing. If your timing is off then your engine will run poorly and be low on power.

If it was the timing wouldn't it effect the performance of the engine throughout the entire rpm range and not just once it hits a certain rpm? The engine seems to be running perfectly while it ideling even better then when I first got the car.

As mentioned, recheck the valve timing. 94
