Default resonator - same as a glass pack muffler?

i searched and didn't find what i needed. are resonators the same as glass packs? would a cherry bumb for example work the same as say a resonator that came with the car stock? the reason i ask is because i'm trying to get my exhaust to be quiet, the last time i bought a resonator was a long time ago, and it looked like a bullet and had a louvered core. i can't find anywhere which sells that type any more. thanks

Yeah generally if you replace a resonator with a glass pack you will have about the same thing. Just dont run without a resonator unless you want a very loud exhaust.

yea, i haven't had a resonator for a while now, and on long trips it bothers me b/c its so loud. if i put on a cherry bomb, will that quiet things down to stock levels? its a straight through muffler with 2.25 piping. i put a louvered core resonator in my first car(corolla) and it made the exhaust really quiet, before that it was really loud and raspy(magnaflow oval, stock piping, no resonator)? any of you guys run resonators and straight through mufflers, with near stock sound?

I run a tanabe race med. set up 2.5 inch with race cat. also w/resonator and with the silencer in its quiet until vtec hits and then it roars.

With the silencer out it runs loud and deep.

Its actually so quiet with the silencer in I am now thinking about removing the race cat.

I am not sure if you are looking into glasspacks or not but I put one on my dx when I first bought it because there was no exhaust on it and it was louder then my boys stock piping so if your looking for quieter I would stay away from glasspack
just my 2 cents

I had the resonator cut out of my Civic's exhaust; it was too loud so I had one installed again. The resonator is supposed to eliminate the sound you get when releasing the throttle. A glasspack is basically what it is and it can be replaced with a glasspack.

I don’t think any of you understand what Youre talking about. Lol a resonator and a glass pack are opposites, resonator quiets the vehicle, a glass pack is a fancier version of a straight pipe. Won’t be as loud as without the resonators, but are definitely a lot louder then resonators lmao
