Default Odd startup idle.

My D16Z6 has been doing this for about three weeks now. Cold startup is fine. But warm startup is rough. I have to give it some gas before it will start and have to stay on the gas for it to idle without dying. After about 10 seconds or so it starts to idle normal again. Anyone know what may cause this? On a side note it also stutters around 1k rpms to about 1500 or 1600 if that helps any.

When did this issue start and what was the last thing done to the car prior to this problem occurring?

I work on a lot of different vehicles, and your symptoms sound like vapor lock, possibly due to a leaking fuel pressure regulator during hot soak. The gas pockets prevent adequate fuel from entering the engine.

Does the car stutter on a regular basis or on a hot soak only? I have seen 3 Civics with defective purge valves ingest enough fuel vapor during a hot soak to cause a hard start, all had a low (less than 1/3 a tank) fuel level at the time of incidence.

Need to know what you drive man.

Now it's starting to start rough cold too. I have a stripped bolt bottom left of the valve cover if that helps any. It's losing water too. I drive a 94 civic ex.

It never has so much as a single problem after startup. It idles and runs fine. Just starting the engine.

The previous owner ran a wire to the trunk for some subs and screwed it in to the fuse box with no fuse and left the open end in the trunk with a ground wire beside it. This problem started just before the wire running from the positive wire to the fuse box caught fire.

No, it takes about 10 seconds on the gas peddle for the idle to smooth out and it runs fine afterwards. It was only warm start up that caused this. It has just now (within the last day or two) started to do this during cold start up. I have a stripped bolt (bottom left on the valve cover) if that helps any.

What is losing water? This bolt you speak of or the engine is using coolant? You are being very vague with your replies.

I was just mentioning the bolt in hopes that it would help figure out what is wrong. The bolt is stripped and oil is leaking from it. The radiator is losing coolant. I drive to school every Monday and Wednesday mornings and it's about 30 miles there and 30 miles back. There and back and going to work (2 miles from my house) 4 days out of the week I'm losing about 1/8th of what the radiator holds every week. I check it every day and fill it back up whenever it needs some.

Alright, so I just found oil in the end of one of the sparkplug wires. I noticed this after warm idle started to sound like it was missing one cylinder and idle was about 300rpm higher than normal.
