Default I want to make an awd EG, should I buy a crv??

Ok, so i'm planning a future EG project.
it's my alltime fav car. i've had 3 of them. but i've been out of the car game for a while,
so i'm just waiting to make some more cash then i'll put one together.
Anyways. I definitely want to do an awd now that I know it's not that difficult.

SO. I was thinking that in the meantime, I should just buy a donor CRV to drive around.
good idea? Or should I just wait and buy one from a junk yard that doesn't run to pick apart?
I've heard you can also do old civic wagon awd. But I don't know much about that.
I do LOVE sohc so that would actually be preferable to a b20.

Any input would be appreciated.

The b-series CRV AWD isn't a full time AWD. It is a partial time AWD.

Using the rear end, viscous coupler and the D-series transmission of the AWD wagovan is a true full time AWD setup.

However, finding the AWD wagovan is becoming harder and harder as time goes on as they are pre 5th gen.

Not to mention how expensive those drivelines with the viscous couplers are. And with as old as they all are now, it's getting harder and harder to find ones that are still good.

Makes me sad that the market on 5th gens and lower is finally starting to shrink a fair bit...

At least on the OEM end of things.
