Default How many amps of power does the fuel pump pull?

Going to put a fuel cut off switch and all the threads I have read have only suggested a heavy duty switch but not specific to how many amps the circuit actually pulls. Is it 15 amps or less or more like 30 amps?

A switch alone is not the correct way. I prefer a push-to-start button myself.

Take your ohm meter and put directly on the pump terminals. Then divide the max voltage the system will see (say 15V to be on the safe side) divided by the ohmage reading. The number you get is the amp draw and will be close to the actual figure since some variables in the circuit will change when current flows through it.

EX: Volts = E, Amps = I, Resistance = R

E/R=I

the rule of thumb you want to follow for a fuse is double the ampreage. if it draws 7.5 amps you want to use a 15 amp fuse. if you have any questions, the easiest way to find out is to use a low amp probe hooked to your mulitmeter. there is a cheap, but good one you can find at aeswave.com. you can also use it with your lab/ignition scope if you have one.

Reason I ask is because I found a wireless switch that will hold 15 amps and it comes with a keyfob. would be perfect for a wireless fuel cut off.
