HELP?! new engine install, j30a1 and now I have ...
Recently had my old engine hydro locked so I installed a newly used engine (j30a1)
My 1999 Honda accord ex v6 (j30a1) has been having a check engine light of p0505. Now, before you comment.. I have read and read and read, I've replaced the whole throttle body with a used one from the local junk yard that was in excellent condition. I've replaced the little fuse and checked for vacuum leaks, checked the wiring harness... nothing is damaged.
Does my car need to re-learn the idle ? it pulses up and down from 1000rpms to 1500rpms roughly while in park. While in drive or any other gear it acts normal however the car wants to pull without me pressing the gas pedal in.
recently: I have removed the intake to view the throttle body while the car was running to see if the TB was moving back an fourth to accommodate the rpms jumping up and done and the throttle has NO MOVEMENT...
thoughts of what the problem could be:
leaking gasket from intake manifold/tb? bad ground somewhere? maybe on the alternator? or the car just needs to relearn the idle? maybe air in the radiator fluid? I've bleed the system several times and im fairly sure theres no more air but? could there be... im at a complete loss right now, i have no clue. help?

I replaced the intake manifold gasket but not the Tb gasket. i'll have to check that out. I'm going to pick up some carb cleaner tomorrow and check for leaks. thank you for your post

update:
seems to be a leak in the intake manifold gasket after spraying carb clearner around the 2nd injector twords the front of the car. I am going to replace the gasket and try it out again shortly.
- will keep updated as I know p0505 is a popular code

Re: HELP?! new engine install, j30a1 and now I have ...
attempted idle relearn today as in the following steps:
Procedure:
- Warm the engine up completely.
- Turn off all loads (AC, blowers, defoggers, stereo, EVERYTHING)
- Unplug wire harness from IACV (engine will almost stall)
- Adjust the idle-air bypass valve for 550 RPM
- - (PLEASE anyone with specific RPM for certain years chime in)
- Turn the engine off & plug everything back in
Now you should force the system to re-learn the idle behavior:
- Allow the engine to cool down completely
- Reset your ECU (different years pull various fuses)
- Start the engine without touching the gas pedal
- Allow it to run & warm up completely without touching the gas pedal
************ waiting for car to cool off currently. Unpluging the IACV made the car run rough however had no effect ON IDLE when i attempted to adjust the brass screw for the idle. When I unplugged the MAP sensor the brass screw then functioned properly. After I adjusted everything at 500rpms and plugged everything in the car idled correctly. I then followed the steps and reset the ECU fuse... So another hour give or take for the car to cool off in the hot 100 degree weather we will see were we are at.

no change, still p0505 and crack head idle up down up down up down.. drove it today and it drives correctly, no pulling anymore when not pressing the gas, im starting to wonder if there is air in the radiator/lines still... hm

So, I decided to take one last crack at it before tossing a match under the hood... to my amazement I figured it out.
- Bad o-ring on a fuel injector which caused air to enter through a fuel injector causing p0505
- idle is perfect now, does not jump up and down, runs like a dream.
